Seventeen-year-old Robin Feuerriegel disappeared from the Chicago suburbs on August 26, 1972, after leaving her boyfriend’s home in Skokie. She had recently moved to Evanston from Ohio. Her fate was discovered on November 18, 1972, when two boys found heavily decomposed remains in an unincorporated area behind the Naval Air Station Glenview. A class ring marked with the initials R and F helped lead investigators to suspect the body was Robin’s; dental records confirmed the identification five days later.

The coroner could not establish a precise cause of death from the condition of the remains but ruled out a gunshot wound. Investigators later focused on Ralph Raymond Andrews, born in Evanston in 1945, because of a violent history of assaults on women and links to several Cook County-era murders. Andrews was convicted in other murders and died in prison on January 31, 2006, but he was never charged in Robin’s killing. The case remains officially unsolved.

Did anyone in Evanston or Skokie at the time remember Robin, her circle of friends, or seeing anything on August 26, 1972?
