Shizuo Kado was 98 when he and his wife, Tokuyo, 94, were violently assaulted inside their Burnaby, British Columbia, home in early September 2002. The attack occurred on or around September 9; both elders were hospitalized and Kado died in hospital on September 14, 2002. The couple had lived in the area for decades; Kado had been a self-employed farmer and, with his family, had been uprooted to Raymond, Alberta, during the Second World War before returning to British Columbia.
No publicly identified suspect, arrest, charge, trial, or conviction has been reported. The City of Burnaby later offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction, and the case remains listed among Canada’s unsolved homicides.
Did anyone in Burnaby or the surrounding area have contacts, memories, or information about the Kados, their routines, or anyone seen near their home in September 2002?
