O’Nell-Cius Williams, 23, a longtime resident of Montreal’s West Island, was fatally shot shortly after midnight on June 12, 2020, on Dauville Street in Pierrefonds-Roxboro. He was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle with another person when a second vehicle pulled up, shots were fired toward them, and the attackers fled. Williams was struck in the upper body. Despite being seriously wounded he drove away but soon crashed into a fence; he was taken to hospital and died from his injuries shortly after 7:30 a.m.
Police initially investigated the incident as a drive-by shooting and said the passenger beside Williams was uninjured and became a key witness. Investigators later told the family they believed the shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity and that the passenger might have been the intended target. One person was arrested during the probe and released for lack of evidence; no name or charge has been publicly disclosed and the killing remains unsolved.
If anyone knew O’Nell-Cius Williams, who was working three jobs and hoping to buy a condominium, or has information about the vehicle that fired on them, please contact investigators.
