Jose Luis Hernandez was 19 when he was shot and killed in San Francisco’s Excelsior District on January 3, 2010. The attack happened between 1:35 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. as Hernandez was walking home in the area of Naples and Persia. He was assaulted near the intersection of Edinburgh and Persia and died in front of his home at Persia and Naples.
The shooting appeared unprovoked and no immediate suspects were arrested. The case is unsolved and is listed as a cold case by the San Francisco Police Department. The San Francisco Mayor’s Office has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Authorities have repeatedly appealed for public assistance and continue to accept tips through the SFPD Homicide Detail or anonymous channels.
Did anyone in the Excelsior area at that time see activity near Edinburgh, Persia, or Naples that night?
