Rogelio Lozano-Garita (26), the boyfriend of Seraphina Pereira, has been charged in her killing. Police say he faces murder, criminal possession of a weapon, concealment of a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence after Pereira’s body was found buried in a shallow grave at Rockaway Community Park and later identified by the medical examiner.

Seraphina Pereira, 35, disappeared from the Ocean Bay Apartments on Beach 54th Street on Oct. 19, 2026, and was found days later near Beach 58th Street and Almeda Ave. The ME determined she was shot, and investigators conducted a search and detained a person of interest before filing the charges, police said. smh this whole neighborhood must be shaken up.

This is heartbreaking news for her family who searched thru the area looking for her, and I cant imagine what theyre going thru right now. didnt expect this to move so quickly but glad there's been an arrest at least.
