Seventeen-year-old Xavier Gillette was shot and killed the night of July 10, 2009, in San Francisco’s Western Addition. Around 11:20 PM near McAllister and Webster Streets, Gillette and a friend, Tremayne Brown, were approached by a vehicle from which several men exited and opened fire. Both victims were taken to San Francisco General Hospital; Xavier died of his wounds and Brown survived.
No arrests have been announced. The San Francisco Police Department is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction, and the case remains unsolved. The shooting was one of several in the area that year, prompting community rallies and outreach to address gun violence.
If anyone witnessed the shooting or knows anything about the vehicle or the men who exited it, please come forward with information.
