Charles Lawrence Dillon, 48, vanished on January 16, 1994, during a grouper fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico. He boarded a 26-foot boat named the Double O with three other men after departing from the Tarpon Springs area. Two occupants were later recovered drowned, and personal items including a cooler and life jackets were found, but Dillon and fellow fisherman Arthur Sassone were never located and are presumed to have died in a mishap at sea.
Dillon worked for the Yellow Cab company and had a history of heart problems, including prior triple bypass surgery. Despite extensive searches, neither body was recovered and the precise circumstances remain unclear; authorities regard the incident as a tragic accident at sea but the case is officially unresolved.
Did anyone have contact with Charles or the boat’s other occupants around January 16, 1994, or recall seeing the Double O after it left Tarpon Springs?
