Justin Miller was 25 and living in Delaware, Ohio, when he was killed on November 2, 2007, in Columbus. He worked as the district manager for Heartland Cash Advance and had been conducting routine check-ins at a Cleveland Avenue store the evening of the attack. After leaving the store around 7:30 p.m., he was approached in the parking lot by a person witnesses described as wearing all black and between 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet 0 inches tall.
Witnesses said the suspect shot Miller at close range, then fired three additional shots into his chest after he had fallen. The assailant’s actions indicated a deliberate killing; observers suggested a possible robbery motive but investigators have not confirmed that as the sole reason. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has investigated and issued public appeals, including crime stopper initiatives, but no arrest has been reported and the case remains unsolved.
Miller left behind a wife and young daughter, and the community remembers him as a devoted family man. If anyone has information about the shooting, the investigation or the person seen in all black that night, contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. How did this violent scene unfold in a well-trafficked parking lot without more definitive leads?
