On December 9, 2006, Curtis Francis, 34, and his partner Jennifer Burgette were shot while they slept and found dead in their home on Hopper Road in Piketon, Ohio. The case, known locally as the Hopper Road double murder, remains unsolved. Investigators believe more than one person was involved and that the killer or killers may have known the couple.
Curtis had recently had shoulder replacement surgery and was taking Percocet, a detail investigators considered as a possible motive. A well produced two firearms thought to be connected to the killings, but retrieving usable evidence proved difficult and the investigation eventually went cold despite reviews by local detectives and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Family members, including Curtis’s mother, continue to seek answers.
Did anyone in the Piketon area know Curtis and Jennifer’s routines, visitors, or anyone who might have been aware of his medication?
