Peter Azadian, 47, was attacked in the early hours of February 15, 2009, while living on the streets in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood. The assault occurred on Stillman Street between Second and Third Streets at about 3 a.m.; at least four men attacked and beat him and then fled in a sport utility vehicle. Azadian was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and died of his injuries on February 27, 2009.
No arrests had been reported in connection with the killing. His case was recorded among at least 15 homicides in San Francisco in 2009 and has been cited to illustrate how homeless people can be particularly vulnerable to violent crime and how many such cases remain unresolved. If anyone saw activity on Stillman Street that night or has information about the men or the SUV, police and the family would welcome being contacted.
