Cynthia Jane Anderson, known as Cindy, was a 20-year-old legal secretary in Toledo, Ohio, who vanished from her law office on East Manhattan Boulevard on the morning of August 4, 1981. Coworkers had installed a panic button after she began receiving harassing phone calls at work; on the day she disappeared the janitor and passersby saw her at her desk before noon. When employers arrived around midday the office was empty, the radio was playing, air conditioning on and desks prepared for the day. A romance novel was left open to a scene of an abduction at knifepoint. There were no obvious signs of a struggle, but her purse and keys were missing while her locked car remained in the parking lot. Cynthia, who always left a note when stepping out, left none that day; her bank account and Social Security number were never used afterward.

Investigators received an anonymous tip a month later from a frightened woman claiming Cynthia was being held in a white house basement, but the caller did not provide usable details.

Does anyone who knew Cynthia, worked at that law office, or remembers the East Manhattan Boulevard neighborhood in 1981 have information that could help her case?
