On March 5, 1963, ten-month-old Clara Giusti (red hair, blue eyes) disappeared from the family farm near Port Townsend, Washington, along with her older sister Michelle and their mother Sharon. The father later told authorities he had been working in the fields that afternoon and saw his wife and daughters get into the family car and drive away. Clothing and money were reported missing from the home. Their absence was not reported to police until March 9, 1963.
On March 10, the family car was found unlocked and abandoned beneath a highway overpass more than a mile from the farm. Investigators reported no clear sign of foul play and no trace of Clara, Michelle, or Sharon. Relatives said Sharon’s close relationship with her sister made a voluntary disappearance unlikely, and family accounts note she had previously left her husband temporarily out of fear. A relative later said the town sheriff, who was a close friend of the father, regretted not investigating more fully and felt his hands were tied. Authorities have concluded the family may have met with foul play and are likely deceased, but their whereabouts remain unknown.
Did anyone in the Port Townsend area in early March 1963 see the Giustis leave or know where they might have gone?
