Jorge George Hurtado was an 18-year-old from San Francisco who was shot and killed on August 24, 2008, while walking with a friend at 23rd Street and Treat Avenue in the Mission District. Around 1 a.m. an assailant approached and fired, then fled in a getaway vehicle. Jorge was found by police, taken to San Francisco General Hospital, and pronounced dead. The suspect left the scene and the case remains unsolved.

Jorge was an aspiring rapper who shared his music eagerly with friends and family and had planned to start studies at San Francisco State University the day after his death. His family, friends, and former teachers remembered him for his musical talent, kind nature, and desire to become a counselor. The community held a memorial at June Jordan High School, where he had graduated two years earlier, and gatherings and memorials continue at the site of the shooting.

The city and police offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Does anyone who knew Jorge or was in the Mission District that night have information that could help bring his killers to justice?
