Marcus Sesrell Barrell vanished from his Virginia Beach apartment in early December 2001. A missing persons report was filed December 10, 2001; he had been in regular contact with his father in Louisiana and in their last conversation during the first week of December Marcus expressed concern after giving his Social Security number to a man he had done work for. Marcus was 22, of Turkish descent, a construction worker and artist who played music on an electronic keyboard. He was described as between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet 0 inches, about 140 pounds, with brown hair and hazel or blue eyes.

By early January 2002 Marcus’s champagne-colored Nissan Sentra and his roommate, Carl Ellison, were missing. A neighbor reported strangers cleaning out Marcus’s apartment, removing furniture, drawings, his keyboard and his pet iguana, and being told to mind her own business. Investigators later found that Troy P. Baudoin, an insurance adjuster who had hired Marcus for work, had stolen Marcus’s identity; Baudoin was fired in November 2001 for embezzling and ultimately died by suicide after police questioned associates about Marcus. Authorities suspect Baudoin killed Marcus to steal his identity, but key witnesses and concrete evidence are lacking and Carl Ellison’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Did anyone know Marcus, Carl Ellison, or the champagne-colored Sentra and have information that could help fill the gaps in this case?
