Mary Beth Grismore was 26 and from Marshall, Indiana, when she disappeared from her home on February 22, 1978. She had recently married and was using the last name Grismore. On May 3, 1978, police in Whitehall, Ohio, found her body in the trunk of her abandoned car in a Holiday Inn parking lot after responding to a parking complaint. Medical and dental records identified her, and the Franklin County coroner determined she had been strangled and had died shortly after her disappearance.

Investigators collected fingerprints from the vehicle’s rearview mirror but recovered little else from the scene. Authorities could not determine whether the killing occurred in Indiana or Ohio; the FBI became involved because the case crossed state lines. A psychic was consulted at one point and suggested a gunshot, but no gunshot wounds were present. The murder remains unsolved and is listed among Ohio’s unsolved homicides. If anyone knew Mary, saw her car, or has information about her movements in late February 1978, please share what is known.
