Andrea Gonzalez was five years old when she was reported missing from a trailer home in Russellville, Alabama. Her father, Paul Gonzalez, and his pregnant wife, Kim Gonzalez, said she was last seen around midnight on November 20, 1993; by morning she was gone and searches turned up no sign of her beyond the front porch.

Suspicion soon focused on Paul and Kim. Kim failed a polygraph and later spoke about Andrea in the past tense. In February 1995 Kim told police she had accidentally scalded Andrea in a bathtub, treated the burns, then discovered the child dead and — she said — she and Paul disposed of the body in Upper Bear Creek Lake. Investigators concluded Andrea’s death was likely the result of prolonged abuse rather than an accident.

Paul pleaded guilty to manslaughter and testified against Kim. Kim was acquitted of murder but convicted of child abuse; both have since been released from prison. No body has been recovered and searches continue; Andrea’s fate remains a painful unresolved loss for her family and community.

Did anyone in Russellville or the surrounding area have contact with Andrea or the family in late 1993 that might help clarify what happened?
