On the afternoon of June 8, 1988, nine-year-old Scott Allen Kleeschulte disappeared from his St. Charles, Missouri, neighborhood. He was last seen about 4:30 p.m. walking on Ken Drive toward West Adams during a severe thunderstorm that produced flash flooding. Scott, a Coverdell Elementary School student, had freckles across his nose and a small scar on his chin and was wearing a black Rude Dog t-shirt, khaki pants, and red and black Puma high-top sneakers. His parents returned home around 5:15 p.m., became worried when he was not there, and reported him missing as darkness fell.
Searches by law enforcement and volunteers included bloodhounds that reportedly tracked his scent about five miles to Fox Hill Road, searches of woods, caves and tunnels he frequented, and dredging local streams because of the flash flood, but no physical evidence was found. Over the years investigators re-examined leads: a 2007 task force looked for a link to Michael J. Devlin and a 2011 review produced a warrant and re-interviews; later tips from a Florida inmate also failed to produce new evidence. Scott’s disappearance remains unsolved and his family has continued to hope for answers. If anyone knew Scott or was in that neighborhood the afternoon of June 8, 1988, can you share what you remember?
