On the evening of December 11, 2012, 58-year-old retired physician Deepak Bhasin was found dead at his San Nicholas Drive home in northwest Oklahoma City after a 911 call reporting an attack. Officers arriving about 7:30 p.m. discovered Bhasin had suffered multiple stab wounds; authorities described the injuries as consistent with a homicide. His death was listed as the city’s 95th homicide that year.
Investigators examined Bhasin’s recent communications and cell phone records, which showed messages with 19-year-old Jamie Lea Walker and indicated she had arranged to meet him at his home shortly before the killing. That digital trail and other evidence placed Walker at or near the scene around the time of the murder. In 2013 Walker was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Bhasin’s death.
Anyone who knew Dr. Bhasin, his routines, or who saw someone near San Nicholas Drive on December 11 who hasn’t spoken with police is asked to come forward with information.
