Nathaniel Taylor, 20, was shot and killed on January 30, 2008, in the 1400 block of 77th Avenue in Oakland. Officers responding around 9:30 p.m. found Taylor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say he had been walking when an unknown assailant approached and opened fire.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle fleeing, but descriptions were vague and leads were limited. The motive was not immediately clear and no arrests were announced at the time. Authorities renewed an appeal in 2012 and offered a reward, and Taylor’s family and community have held vigils and events to honor him while seeking answers.
