On the evening of May 20, 1985, nineteen-year-old Virginia Anne Rambus, who often went by Anne, left her apartment in the 6800 block of South 123rd Street in Seattle’s Skyway neighborhood to walk across the small complex to a co-worker’s unit. She was dressed in jeans, a white pullover sweater and black cowboy boots and planned to go from there to a party in Rainier Valley. That short walk between buildings was the last confirmed time she was seen; she never reached her co-worker’s apartment and has not been heard from since.

Foul play was suspected early in the investigation. Her dental records and DNA were placed on file. In 2011 investigators publicly named a man who had lived in the complex at the time, known locally as The Candy Man and later identified as Jesse Pratt, as a person of interest; witnesses said Pratt and Rambus knew each other. Pratt was serving a life sentence in Oregon for a 1986 murder, but no definitive connection to Virginia’s disappearance has been established. The King County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Squad is handling the file.

If anyone knew Virginia, lived in that Skyway complex in 1985, or has information about her movements that night, please share what is known.
