Seventeen-year-old Rhonda Labbe was last seen on the evening of August 7, 1974, leaving her mother’s home on Andover Street in Lawrence, Massachusetts. After dinner with family she walked toward the Lowell apartment she shared with her boyfriend, accompanied for part of the way by her eleven-year-old sister. Near Bob’s Grocery Store she told her sister to return home and planned to hitchhike the remaining 10 to 11 miles to Lowell. Rhonda was wearing a white blouse, blue jeans, and carrying a black suede handbag; she left behind all personal items, including a paycheck from her job at the Paris Shoe Store.

Her mother and boyfriend reported her missing the next morning. Initially treated as a possible runaway because she had briefly left home six months earlier, the case produced no sightings of her getting into a vehicle and no concrete leads. The investigation remains open with the Billerica Police Department; family DNA has been entered into databases and compared to unidentified remains with no matches to date. Does anyone remember seeing Rhonda that night or the stretch of Andover Street near Bob’s Grocery Store?
