On January 2, 1989, human remains were found on the banks of the Arkansas River at 16100 W. Wekiwa Road in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. The woman remained a Jane Doe for decades; investigators later identified her as Christine Miller, reported missing from Tulsa in January 1989. Some reports say she was 19 and identified in 2011, others say she was 20 and identified in 2014.

When found she wore a blue blouse with white polka dots, a white skirt, and a single white sandal, and had two distinctive silver rings on her left hand, one with a triangular turquoise design and the other decorated with braided wire. The medical examiner estimated she had been dead three to six months; cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, and she had also been shot between the breasts with a shotgun.

Authorities have named a principal suspect and other persons of interest, but say there is not enough evidence to make an arrest. The case remains an open investigation and those who knew Christine or have information about her movements in late 1988 or early 1989 are asked to come forward.
