Sammy Lloyd Jackson was 13 when he disappeared from Monterey, California, on December 14, 1968. He and his friend Alfred Grimes, 14, were last seen early that morning leaving to go fishing at Fisherman’s Wharf, a familiar routine for the pair. A bus driver reported seeing them at a bus stop around 4:30 a.m., and they were dropped off near Del Monte Avenue, close to the wharf.
Neither boy returned home that day. Sammy’s family lived in the 3100 block of Ninole Drive, and Alfred’s father began searching and then notified police when the boys could not be located. Both have been missing ever since. While drowning has been suggested as a possible explanation, no conclusive evidence has been found and the case remains unsolved.
Does anyone who lived in Monterey in 1968 remember seeing the boys near Fisherman’s Wharf or Del Monte Avenue that morning?
