Dennis Scott Cole was 22 when his body was found on an embankment just off Highway 66 in Jackson County, Oregon, in April 1977. He had been shot twice in the head; the death was violent and immediate.

The killing prompted a law enforcement investigation, but the case grew cold. No arrests have been announced and no suspect identity has been made public. Cole’s name remains in the county’s cold case files as an unsolved homicide.
