In the early hours of Sunday, July 9, 2017, 30-year-old Mia Chantia White of Bellevue, Pennsylvania, was killed in the Manchester neighborhood of Pittsburgh. White had been out celebrating a birthday with friends and was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked car on the 1100 block of Liverpool Street when at least 10 shots were fired. She was struck multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. A 27-year-old friend in the driver’s seat was wounded by a gunshot to the leg and survived. Neighbors reported being startled by the gunfire and subsequent screams.

White’s family remembers her as a loving, respectful and spiritual single mother who sometimes performed mime to spiritual music at her church; she left behind a 14-year-old daughter. Police have said they have very little evidence in the case and have appealed to the public for help. Anyone with information about what happened that night is asked to come forward.
