On the night of December 11, 2012, a burst of gunfire in Nicetown claimed the life of 23-year-old Isaac Jenkins. The shooting occurred around midnight near 19th and Wingohocking streets; investigators counted at least 40 rounds fired from two weapons, an AK-47 rifle and a handgun. Responding officers found the street scattered with evidence—43 yellow markers showed spent casings and fragments from the ferocious attack.
Neighbors were shaken by the violence; a nearby young mother voiced fear for her child as she looked at the scene. The shooters fled and were not identified; by December 2012 the case remained unsolved. If anyone was in the area of 19th and Wingohocking that night or has information about Isaac Jenkins, please come forward.
