Jodi Brewer was 19 when her remains were found on August 27, 2003, off Interstate 15 near Baker, California. She had been reported missing two weeks earlier after being dropped off at the Harbor Island Club Apartments in Las Vegas on August 14. Her torso was recovered wrapped in plastic and identified by distinctive tattoos: a hummingbird and an M design. A sheet was also found near the I-15 off-ramp to Cima Road that may be connected to the crime.
Brewer had been involved in sex work by age 17, and investigators believe she may have been picked up by a client the night she disappeared. Her death occurred during a string of murders and disappearances of Las Vegas area sex workers, including Misty Marie Saens and Lindsay Marie Harris, and the disappearance of Jessie Foster, prompting speculation about a possible serial offender. Neal Falls has been suggested by others as a possible link, but no definitive connection has been established. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department lists the case as unsolved and cold.
Anyone who knew Jodi, saw her in mid-August 2003, or has information about suspicious activity along I-15 between Nevada and Baker is asked to contact the sheriff’s department.
