Lisa Marie Shuttleworth was 34 when she vanished from her Beech Island, South Carolina, home on September 4, 2003. That morning she dropped her nine-year-old son at school, spoke by phone with her teenage daughter around 7:00 a.m., and was seen about 8:00 a.m. sitting in a borrowed car at a Pit Stop convenience store. Her last known contact was a 10:00 a.m. phone call in which she said she was expecting a guest.
When her son returned from school the house was locked; both Lisa’s car and the borrowed vehicle were in the driveway. Family members who used a key to enter found the home tidy, a pot of tea recently moved off the burner, and Lisa’s purse missing while her driver’s license and Social Security card remained inside. Searches with bloodhounds and cadaver dogs produced no clues. Investigators have long suspected foul play and have named persons of interest, but no charges have been filed and the case remains unsolved.
Anyone who knew Lisa, lived in Beech Island in 2003, or has information about her movements that day is asked to come forward.
