Laura Elena Morales was found dead in her Riverside home on July 23, 2000. She was 35. Her husband and children discovered her shortly after 5 p.m. in the 11100 block of Doverwood Drive, and officers recorded clear signs of trauma that prompted a homicide investigation.

Investigators noted a possible connection to a sexual assault in the same neighborhood on August 10, 1999. The earlier suspect was described as a Hispanic male, about 25 years old, chubby, with black hair and brown eyes. Despite multiple interviews and subsequent forensic work, no arrests have been announced and the investigation remains unsolved. Detectives say scientific advances have been applied to the case and they continue to seek help from anyone with information.
