Jerry Lee McKoen was 48 when he was last seen at his family farm near Malin, Oregon, on the morning of September 21, 2002, leaving at about 5:30 a.m. as he often did to hunt. He typically left a note for his family, but none was found that day. He drove off in a brown and white 1986 GMC pickup with a distinctive camper shell and was believed to be headed out with a bow and arrows.
Two weeks later, on October 8, 2002, the truck was found locked in a heavily wooded area of Siskiyou County, California, near Medicine Lake Road and south of the Door Knob Snowmobile Park, roughly 40 miles south of Klamath Falls. The heater was on high and the radio was off, but Jerry, his bow and arrows, and any other sign of him were missing. Nearly 100 volunteers, dog teams and a CHP helicopter searched eight to ten square miles of Modoc National Forest using GPS, but turned up no trace.
The lack of clues has left family and law enforcement uncertain and considering the possibility of foul play. Does anyone have information about Jerry, his 1986 GMC pickup, or his movements in late September 2002?
