Eric Frazier, a 23-year-old Black man from Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood, was shot and killed in East Hills on Sunday, September 28, 2008. His death occurred less than 12 hours after a local pastor and city councilman had spoken against gun violence, and it joined a string of shootings that had been devastating District 9 neighborhoods including Homewood, East Liberty, Point Breeze, and Garfield.

Eric was the son of Elaine Green-Towsend and Vincent Bell and is survived by grandparents, a great-grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral services were planned at King of Kings Baptist Church on Broad Street in Garfield. Available details do not identify any confirmed suspect or any publicly documented arrests or charges connected to his killing.

Eric is remembered by loved ones as someone who often smiled and joked, a young man whose life and future were cut short. If anyone knew Eric or has information about what happened in East Hills that night, please share what you remember.
