On March 18, 1999, Judge George Taylor and his wife Lynda were shot and killed at their Rancho Cucamonga home. George had just returned from an evening event when an unknown assailant ambushed him in the garage and shot him to death. Lynda, inside the house, ran to the garage after hearing gunfire and was also shot and killed.

The double homicide remains unsolved and is treated as a cold case. Investigators have said the motive may be connected to George’s judicial work, but no conclusive leads have been reported and no one has been publicly identified in connection with the killings.
