A late-night outing turned deadly outside the Polaris Nightclub at 400 N. Ninth Street in North Philadelphia when a gunman opened fire around 2 a.m. on a Saturday in October 2007. An estimated 150 people had gathered outside as bouncers tried to disperse the crowd; an argument escalated and a shooter with a 9mm semiautomatic began firing into the crowd.
Fifteen-year-old Daemel Gaskins of Germantown was killed in the barrage, along with 21-year-old Stanley Wilson, also from Germantown. Three others were wounded: a 20-year-old shot in the leg, a 21-year-old shot in the foot, and a 23-year-old shot in the thigh. Police processed the scene but had no suspect, no clear motive, and despite many potential witnesses the shooter vanished.
No arrests have been announced in the killings of Gaskins and Wilson. Does anyone who was at Polaris that night or who knew Daemel or Stanley have information that could help bring answers to their families?
