On the morning of June 28, 2007, 22-year-old Ronald Mccorkle, known locally as Sheed, was shot while walking near North Seventh and Tioga Streets in the Franklinville area of North Philadelphia. Witnesses said the shooting happened just after 11 a.m.; an unknown assailant fired three shots and one struck Mccorkle in the back. A neighbor saw him moments before and another neighbor reached him first after he fell. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:44 a.m.
Police recovered a bicycle at the scene that they hoped might yield a lead, but the motive for the killing was not made clear. Neighbors described Mccorkle as quiet, trying to rebuild his life after a recent period of incarceration, and some expressed frustration about the initial police response. There have been no publicly reported arrests tied to the shooting, and the case appears to have gone cold.
Did anyone in the Franklinville area have information about Ronald’s movements that morning or about the bicycle left at the scene?
