Richard David Graham, 49, of Whiskeytown, California, was found dead on December 22, 1997, near the Davis Gulch nature trail parking lot about half a mile west of the Whiskeytown Dam on Kennedy Memorial Highway. A park maintenance worker discovered his body slumped over a berm in the early morning and rangers confirmed the death. Graham had been shot multiple times with a high-powered rifle.

Authorities suggested he might have been hitchhiking in the area and that he may have been targeted while seeking assistance or transportation. No arrests have been announced and the case remains unsolved. Few additional public details are available about who last saw him or why he was in that specific location.

If anyone has memories, records, or information about Graham’s movements that morning or noticed suspicious vehicles or persons near the Davis Gulch parking area in December 1997, please come forward.
