Becky Annette Edmondson was 19 when she was last seen on Saint Patrick’s Day 1987 after finishing a shift at the Kentucky Fried Chicken on Wrightsboro Road. She was described as a white female with blonde, shoulder-length hair, blue eyes, and between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall. At the time she wore a white shirt, black slacks, white tennis shoes and carried a blue denim purse. A friend says Becky told her she was going to meet another friend at a motel — someone who drove a Mercedes — and that was the last reported sighting.

Becky’s red 1985 Chrysler LeBaron was found abandoned on March 24, 1987, on the eastbound Bobby Jones Expressway at the Wrightsboro Road exit. The car had a flat tire, a pried-open driver’s side door and a broken steering column, but Becky was not at the scene. She had earlier suffered a car accident that led her to withdraw from high school and use prescription medication; family members say medication was left behind and she did not pick up her last paycheck, which they interpret as inconsistent with a voluntary departure. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has kept the case open.

Does anyone in the Augusta area remember seeing Becky or her red LeBaron around mid-March 1987, or know the motel she might have been visiting?
