Abraham James Owens was 35 when he was fatally shot in Knoxville, Tennessee, on the evening of October 10, 2017. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 1600 block of Peltier Road in the city’s northwest; paramedics transported him to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigators say Owens had arranged to meet someone that night and was shot during that meeting. After being wounded he ran down Peltier Road to a nearby house, whose resident called for help. Owens had been days away from a federal racketeering trial, accused along with co-defendants of involvement in a heroin distribution scheme tied to the Mafia Insane Vice Lords; that trial had been scheduled to start October 16, 2017.
The murder remains unsolved, no suspects or arrests have been publicly identified, and police continue to seek information. If anyone knew Abraham, his associates, or observed activity around Peltier Road on October 10, 2017, please contact the Knoxville Police Department.
