DeShawn Dupree King was 18 when he was shot and killed in Knoxville in the early hours of January 30, 2013. He was found dead in the passenger seat of a green Ford Explorer at about 12:45 a.m. on East New Street, though investigators believe the shooting occurred on Linden Avenue, possibly in the 2300 block. King had attended Central High School and was a father, survived by a young son.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing two male subjects wearing black hoodies running from the area immediately after the shooting. No video evidence from the scene has been reported, and no arrests have been made; the Knoxville Police Department continues to appeal for help and says community knowledge could be key to solving the case.
If anyone knew DeShawn, saw activity on Linden Avenue or East New Street that night, or has information about the two men in black hoodies, please contact investigators.
