Two very different Perkins stories are tied together by name and place. Charles Robert Perkins, known as Charlie, was 85 when he died peacefully in Nashville from complications of diabetes, heart disease, and kidney failure. A Navy lieutenant during the Cuban Missile Crisis, he became a longtime attorney and civic leader in Memphis and Shelby County, helping establish the current Mayor/Commission government and serving on multiple boards and commissions. He is remembered by family as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life centered on service and generosity.
A separate, unrelated homicide matter involves Dallas Perkins. The victim, 68-year-old Robert Wong, was found unresponsive in his home after being shot in the shoulder on Thanksgiving Day 2017. At the time of the killing Dallas Perkins was 15; police later linked him to the case and charged him after he was already serving a sentence for other crimes, including a 2018 holdup of a pizza delivery driver in which a car, money, and pizzas were stolen. Initial proceedings in the Wong death were held in Juvenile Court because of Dallas Perkins’s age at the time.
Does anyone have information about the Wong case or remember details from Thanksgiving Day 2017 that could help clarify what happened?
