Stephen Donta Oden, 20, was killed in a public, brazen shooting at a Nashville carwash on Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2007. He had been vacuuming his 1998 Chevy Tahoe at the NCW carwash at 4007 Charlotte Avenue when an unidentified Black male pulled up in a dark blue, early 2000s two-door Chevy Monte Carlo, exited the car and began a physical confrontation with Oden. The encounter escalated and the attacker produced a gun, shooting Oden.

The shooter also fired on Oden’s passenger, Ronnie Lee Carver, who was struck several times, managed to exit the Tahoe and fall to the ground, and was shot at again while taking cover. After the attack the gunman returned to the Monte Carlo and drove away. Despite the public location and a witness, no arrest has been made and the case is cold.

Anyone with information about the shooting, the vehicle, or the person who approached the Tahoe is asked to contact the Nashville Police Department.
