Raymond Thomas was 33 when he was last seen by his wife at their Old Boone Lane home in Jackson, Tennessee on the morning of May 14, 2005. He sometimes left for a few days, but after two weeks of no contact Thomas’s 2001 Chevrolet Silverado was found abandoned and burned in a field in Mercer, in western Madison County. The truck’s discovery and anonymous calls claiming Thomas had been abducted from a local establishment led investigators to suspect foul play.

Prosecutors later presented testimony that between May 18 and May 26, 2005, Reggie Carnell James shot and killed Thomas at his residence, weighed the body down with concrete blocks, and disposed of it in the Forked Deer River. Large amounts of human blood were found soaked into the carpet and pad at James’s home; forensic testing showed the sample was too degraded for a definitive DNA match to Thomas. Thomas’s remains have never been recovered.

Anyone who knew Raymond, saw his Silverado in May 2005, or has information about his disappearance is asked to come forward.
