On the morning of April 25, 1997, firefighters in Fountain City, a suburb of Knoxville, Tennessee, found the badly burned body of 33-year-old Jerry Scott Dyer inside his Montrose Road home, a converted garage. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set and that Dyer had been killed before the blaze, concluding the fire was used to try to destroy evidence.

Dyer was a white male, a self-employed contractor and member of Third Creek Baptist Church, and he left behind a son. Despite interviews with friends and family and subsequent investigative work, no arrests or publicly identified suspects were ever announced and the case went cold. A substantial reward, offered by Dyer’s family and the Knox County District Attorney’s office, remains available for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Did anyone in the Fountain City area at the time have information about Dyer’s movements or acquaintances in the weeks before April 25, 1997?
