Ronald Mcguire, 30, was shot and killed on September 30, 2017, in the parking lot of the Sago Palms apartment complex at 13502 Northborough in Houston. Police say he suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators report the incident followed an earlier altercation at a nearby convenience store where Mcguire and 42-year-old Calvin Mitchell briefly fought. Surveillance footage and witness statements show Mitchell returning to the complex, approaching Mcguire with a pistol, and Mcguire making a move toward the weapon before being shot multiple times, including possibly a fatal shot to the neck. Mitchell allegedly removed an item from Mcguire’s pocket and fled with two others. Mitchell has been charged with murder and was at large at the time of the report; he told an acquaintance he acted in self-defense.
