Preston Bookman, 53, was fatally shot on March 26, 2017, in Houston. The shooting occurred about 4:40 a.m. while Bookman was sitting in a parking lot at 4615 North Shepherd with a friend. A gold or tan four-door sedan drove by, shots were fired from inside the vehicle as it went southbound on North Shepherd and then turned west onto Curtin Street, and Bookman was struck. Emergency responders pronounced him dead shortly afterward.
Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division led the investigation. Witnesses reported seeing the fleeing vehicle, but no suspects were immediately identified and few details about a motive or assailant have been released. Bookman’s death was one of roughly 269 murders reported in Houston in 2017, a year marked by a high number of violent crimes.
Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers.
