Jose Perez, 36, was shot and killed on February 28, 2017, in the 7000 block of Bissonnet Street in Houston. Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 11:30 p.m. and found Perez with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported a dark-colored vehicle speeding away immediately after the shooting. Investigators say the killing may have arisen from a dispute that escalated into violence, but despite extensive interviews and evidence collection no suspects were immediately identified. Family and friends remembered Perez as a hardworking man with career aspirations, and the case has drawn attention to concerns about violent crime in the city.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or who has information about the dark-colored vehicle is urged to contact the Houston Police Department.
