Nathan Valdez was 21 when he was shot on October 24, 2016, and died from his injuries on October 30, 2016. The shooting happened near a bus stop on South Presa Street in San Antonio after Valdez left a convenience store carrying a cell phone and about $50.

Surveillance footage and arrest affidavits say Leonard Torres approached Valdez; footage reportedly shows a scuffle and a gunshot. Eduardo Torres later told investigators the encounter began as an attempted robbery, saying Leonard was looking for money and used a .380 caliber handgun. Both Leonard and Eduardo Torres were charged with capital murder. Authorities recovered the firearm and found alterations made to a white Ford Explorer that had been waiting nearby.

There was reported blame-shifting between the brothers during the investigation. If anyone saw activity near South Presa Street around October 24, 2016, or has information about that white Ford Explorer, please share what was observed.
