Debney Lynn Lobanoff, 28, of Placerville, California, was reported missing in December 1981 after marital problems. Her husband said she left the home with two biker-type men. On July 3, 1982 a fisherman found a nude body at Slab Creek Reservoir; the remains were wrapped in a heavy tow chain and showed signs of severe trauma and beating.

The victim remained unidentified until a tip led to a positive ID two years later. Investigators cleared the husband as a suspect, but no one has been charged and the case remains unsolved.
