Eric Manning, 26, was found dead from a gunshot wound in the backyard of his Fort Worth home on the 5700 block of Whittlesley Road on January 16, 2016. His body was discovered at about 11 a.m., and the Tarrant County medical examiner ruled the death a homicide. Initially police considered the possibility the shooting was accidental, and investigators pursued multiple theories as conflicting narratives emerged during questioning.

A 24-year-old woman named Amelia Arroyo was later arrested and charged with Manning’s murder and booked into the Mansfield Jail with bond set at $500,000. The shooting drew community shock and prompted further police investigation into Arroyo’s role and any motive.
