Joseph Stewart, 54, owner of Stewart Cadillac in Houston, was shot and killed outside his home on May 7, 2015. He was found near his garage late at night, lying close to his 2013 Cadillac Escalade, just after pulling into his driveway. Neighbors reported hearing gunfire and one neighbor saw someone running from the scene; surveillance captured a masked male suspect leaving the area. Weeks earlier Stewart had survived an attempted robbery by three men as he returned home, an incident investigators later examined for possible connection to the murder.
Stewart had moved from Detroit to Houston in the early 2000s and built a successful Cadillac dealership, noted for his personal ties with customers and strong work ethic. Colleagues remembered him for his humor, warmth and passion for his work and the Detroit Lions. In 2016, an FBI probe into unrelated armored car robberies surfaced a court claim linking suspect Redrick Batiste to Stewart’s killing, but no public formal charges tied to the murder have been announced, leaving key questions unanswered.
If anyone knew Joseph, saw activity at his home on May 7, 2015, or has information about the earlier attempted robbery, please come forward.
