Michael Irving, 32, was fatally shot on February 28, 2015, in the parking lot outside Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in southeast Houston. Irving, known in his community as Magix Mike, worked as an audio technician and volunteered at the church; he had been helping at a Black History Month event that night and was waiting for a ride when he was shot in the head. His cousin found his body next to his backpack and sound equipment, and nothing appeared to have been taken, so robbery did not seem to be the motive.

Shortly before his death Irving had pleaded guilty to federal charges of wire fraud and identity theft tied to a scheme that used a PayPal credit card processing machine to charge fraudulently obtained cards; reported victims were seniors aged about 70 to 95. A co-conspirator, Raymond Goffney, also pleaded guilty to the same charges. The investigation remained focused on identifying the shooter and clarifying the circumstances and motive behind the killing.

Did anyone at the church that evening see someone leave the parking lot or notice a suspicious vehicle?
